His name really is Mike Rowe, and they had legal standing to take it from him. He asked for compensation, they said $10. He said $10,000, they prepared copyright infringement documents and began proceedings for legal action. His situation then ended up on cnn.com and all over the internet making Microsoft appear to be big bullies picking on a teenager. He then handed over the website in exchange for an xbox and a bunch of other parting gifts. Had it gone to court, Mike Rowe would have lost, but in doing so Microsoft would have suffered some really bad press. In this case it was best just to pay him off.
